In October of 2005, Yan Ge joined Ackerson Kauffman Fex as an associate after completing a clerkship with senior judges at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Yan graduated from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall School of Law) in 2004. At Boalt Hall School of Law, Yan served as Resources Editor of the Asian Law Journal, dedicated much of her time to the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, and participated in several student groups.

Yan participated in a judicial externship with Judge John T. Noonan at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and worked in the corporate section of a Unites States firm in Hong Kong. Yan has served as a student law clerk at the East Bay Community Law Center, where she represented unlawfully evicted tenants, and at the Samuelson Law, Technology, and Public Policy Clinic at the University of California at Berkeley. During her tenure at the Public Policy Clinic, Yan drafted and amended legislation while providing legislative counseling for the sponsor of the legislation.

Prior to law school, Yan attended Beijing University in China as an undergraduate and received a master's degree in Literature from the University of California at Berkeley. While earning her master's degree, Yan taught undergraduate classes as a graduate student instructor and was a recipient of many awards and fellowships.

Yan is fluent in Chinese and has reading knowledge of Japanese. She is licensed in the District of Columbia and California.
